New buoys in Evans Bay

Planted through the water at the end of the Northern end of the Airport runway are a whole bunch of phallic symbols, nope wrong and they are not yet another set of wind Sculptures sponsored by Meridian Energy either. What I do know is that they are erecting them (excuse the pun) at the moment.

A crew of scuba divers are anchoring them to the seabed over the next few days, they are there just to let any wayward ships over 13.5 metres in height know that they shouldn't be in the airspace of the
runway......so we don't see a plane vs ship crash there.

I didn't stop and ask, everything's written on the poles no mooring etc but it doesn't say anything about having a surf ski or SUP slalom course around these buoys.

I took a spin on the Think Evo II in the light harbour conditions of Southerly, Northerly then Southerly again in the space of an hour. In the last few days there have been some Orca reported in the Harbour but none for me to view today just these pole things.

On the action front, tonight sees another edition of the Rubber
Ducky Twilight Kayak Series starting at 6.15 at Hataitai Beach in Evans Bay click here for info
