Winter is on it's way and with this anyone who wants to get some time on the water on a regular basis pretty much has to get out around their hours of work and inevitably in the dark.
I'm not really an early starter on the water so I tend to get out after work....... so here's what you get to see....... darkness some street lighting and the side of my ski!
Also if your out at night don't forget some navigational lighting while paddling, a bouyancy vest is also helpful because even though you think you have it sussed it can be easy for other water users to creep up on you from supposedly no where......................just like those freak waves aye!
I really need to set a camera or video up on my ski to capture some racer images........but you now how it is, there's only so many hours in the day and the big jobs tend to get the priority.
I had a paddle sent to me the other day from my mate Corey at Millennium Paddles in Napier, he
sent me a Pleiades adjustable paddle, which is similar in shape to the blades I have on my crank shaft. I will trial his blades over the next week to see how they compare. If anyone would like to trial this paddle I'll have it at the Welly Paddlers Winter Series Event on May 26.
The next few days are apparently bringing some rain and with this only the really keen paddlers will be out I'd say.
For anyone following surf ski events............. the Molokai Ocean surf ski race is on this weekend. At 49 or 50 years young Oscar Chalupsky will be chasing his 14 title, rumour from across the Tasman is that Clint Robinson is apparently training his nuts off and of course the Think Kayak surf ski paddlers will also be out in force.
