Saturday and it's Easter and I'm working night shifts at the moment so it was great to get out on the water at midday and refresh the body with a paddle on the briny on the Think Evo II.
A 30 kph Northerly so a few runs and bumps both upwind and downwind to give the body a good all over workout.
On the gear front I've just sold my Think Uno Max (to make way for another Think ski) and to a local guy which was awesome you'll see it tearing around the waterways in the Porirua Area. Sold my Starboard K 15 SUP which is on it's way to Otorohanga so that will be a regular sight on the Waipa River up there over the coming months.
I've also listed my Starboard Race 31.5 board so when that sells I'll be down to a local SUP retailer to buy just one only SUP Board!
I was talking to a guy the other day who was having a little "man grizzle" about his surf ski footrest seizing up............funnily enough after checking mine out this morning it had also seized up as well! Yep we all wash our surf skis down with fresh water after use............Just like your new car which has service intervals and your mountain bike that gets a service before an event................you need to service your surf ski at least 2 or 3 times year as well.
Why because saltwater gets through all the fine tolerance parts and a simple wash down won't stop this............any moving parts may need to be dismantled and cleaned after a period of time that's salt water for you.
If you need a reference..............a good example is the likes of the Americas Cup Yachting, the shore crews probably strip and replace certain parts on a regular basis as things do wear seize and break when you don't want them to.
