Wellington's Paddle Series updates

The Kupe Canoe Club held the last of it's regular Twilight gigs last night finishing off with the traditional end of Series BBQ.

This Series was actually really well put together they had a number of people taking a turn Organising each week, they had fantastic weather right through and they weren't afraid to make a few changes and by trying something different.

One thing I must say is that we must all do a lot more support each others events. Personally I would like to see more craft out of club sheds...............doesn't matter what Club you belong to and truly support each others events.
Instead of seeing a handful of role models turning up on a regular basis we need everyone looking at what they aren't doing to grow an activity.

You just can't beat having people out on the water that's the visible sign of growth and being proactive in your choosen Paddling activity.

Yesterday I caught up with Jörn Scherzer to assist in piecing together this years Winter Paddle Series, now in it's 4th year.

A quick heads up, there will be six events run by four People/Clubs with an event every 3 weeks on Sunday Mornings with a 10 am start.................to allow people to travel from the Wairarapa because they are role model event supporters.

May 26, June 16, July 17, July 28, Aug 18, Sept 15 are the dates.

Dave Annear, at Fergs Kayaks is again happy to  work to our mixed model Sponsorship agreement for the 2013 Series.

Full details on the series will be out by next week.

Last but not least "The Motorway Classic" will be on Sunday April 14 click on the event flyer on the right hand side of the page. Click on any photo to enlarge.
