That's the old saying..................personally if you're a real waterman you just get out on the water no matter what the weather has dished up..................especially in Wellington.
Yesterday I headed out from one of my favourite spots, Shelly Bay. Hot weather nice southerly breeze and a 45 minute quickey on the Uno Max with 2 upwind and 2 downwind loops along the coastline to Burnham Wharf and back.
The Uno Max is such a pleasure to paddle it has the most comfortable seat of all the Think surf skis fitting like an absolute glove but not such a tight fit that you feel uncomfortable in it, The Evo II seat is nice but too but the Uno max seat is number 1.
I highly recommend the Uno Max for it's positive seating position if you paddle K1 and want to switch to a ski for cross training, this one will work a treat especially if you are of a lightweight build, myself at 85 kg no problems as well.
After paddling a few hotlaps on the Uno Max yesterday the Evo II paddle was a lot harder work in the same conditions I had yesterday.
Today I headed off from Hataitai Beach then across Evans Bay straight to Shelly Bay then up to Point Halswell. I like to do a time trial every now and again across the top of Evans Bay between the Lighthouses, so headed across to the "Pink Lady" as it used to be commonly known, at Point Jerningham. It took me 10 mins 20 secs not bad since I'm just in maintenance mode at the moment...................but like anything every journey across the water is quite different with the side swell, wind and tides all playing their part.
After that little squirt I headed along Oriental Parade for a 100 metres then back down Evans Bay into the nice southerly breeze for a good wind down back to the van.
