Petone confirmed venue for tomorrow

Just had a scan around the forecast for tomorrow...on the (westside) Kapiti Coast conditions looks average....and Wellington City looks stunning though we may miss the perfect NW to SW switch that showed on the weather map yesterday.

We are looking at a 23kmh South Westerly gusting to around 35 kmh which is pretty quiet considering the 45km to 105kmh NW gusts we were having in the Capital this morning.

Our start will be from the Giant Oars on The Esplanande, Petone.

We will start at 9 am.....and we'll be down there at 7.45 am setting up and checking out the best course possible likely to be a triangular course..... so no worries with shuttling vehicles as you would have to do for a down winder.

The course at this stage wil.l head inbetween Mokopuna Island and Matiu (Somes) Island over to the 5 knot buoy in Lowry Bay then back to The Esplanade...distance 11.5 km.

If the water conditions don't look as positive as we'd like we may alter the course and use part of the Hutt River.

Paddlers must read and follow the event conditions of entry here: http://wellypaddlers.blogspot.co.nz/2014/11/down-wind-two-this-sunday.html
