Thanks to Brian Scott and the Team of Parents who ran a great event at Wanganui's Lake Wiritoa on Saturday. Also Amy Simpson from Sport Wanganui who supports the Club well with all the finer details of events and funding.
The locals came out in droves and as usual the Waitara Canoe Clubs presence was felt with Ron Cole one of the main drivers (in more ways the one) for teir Club.
Lake Wiritoa is just a magic little location where we had the use of the Waterski Clubs base.
Great to see Club Coach Aaron Cox tearing it up on the water, and also Brian Scott doing the same at Mana two weeks ago, how can a Club go wrong when their coaches are still very active on the water at events, as these guys are.
There must have been about 40 to 50 paddlers on the water on Saturday for 4km, 6km and 10km events. Wanganui had the lions share of Paddlers then came Waitara with about a dozen then about 9 or 10 from Wellington with Palmerston North and Horowhenua also being represented.
A great day out, nice weather and great spread of FOOD from the Ladies at the Club...at the end of the day..... what more can a paddler ask for!
Here's a few picks from my camera that is dying a slow death.....the last one...this is what happens when you go too light on your shaft or paddle blade..........it breaks on the first stroke as the gun goes off.....always prepared, had a spare in the van.....a little 2 minute handicap.....still great to be out there. Results should appear on www.canoeracing.org.nz.... in the next day or so
