This Sunday it's a Southerly of around 40 kmh.
  • We will be meeting at Ngati Toa Domain at 8.30am.
  • We will be on the water by 9 am once we've had a briefing about how we're setting groups off.
  • Plan is start 3 groups at 5 to 10 minutes apart and follow the  Coastline down to the Paekakariki Surf Life Saving Club......distance 19km by water.
  • With 2 km to (Fishermans Table Restaurant) we will wait or turn to catch up to the last group......... then all paddle to Paekak. SLS Club together.
  • The maximum distance you will be offshore is 1.5 km but we recommend that each group, cut in towards the shoreline to get out of some winds if they are blowing from shoreline out to Sea.
  • We will have a mentor paddler with each group and you will all stick to together to maintain close contact.
  • There will be two out options.........they will be Karehana Bay and also Pukerua Bay.
  • The High tide is at 9.14am
  • You will have to wear a PFD, and also use a leg leash and carry a cellphone in a waterproof case (fully charged battery)........and wear appropriate gear......may include booties if you exit planned course early close to rocks.
  • You will register your cellphone number with us when you arrive.
  • This is a Recce for the 24km "Wellington Downwinder" planned for Dec 2014 or Jan 2015.
  • Bring your tie downs and some soft cradles (or small towels) for transfer of your craft to a mates car
  • We reserve the right to change the course if the weather forecast or conditions don' t meet what we require for the group.............There will be downwind.............and at worst there may be an upwind and downwind loop course and we will all have a blast.
