EVERYONE MUST READ THIS NO EXCEPTIONS !
Yes I wished we could have had a Northerly for this one but the weather is what it is.
The Forecast shows that we should get a 28 kmh South Easterly gusting to 40 kmh......overcast conditions and the low tide at 9.15am.
The maximum distance offshore following a straight line will be 1.5 km (over a distance of around 3 km).........however it is a coastal course so can be paddled 30 metres to 100 metres off the shoreline for the full distance............especially when you cut in around Pukerua Bay (as an option).
We meet at 8.30 am and quickly sort our gear out......... to change clothes at the other end.....you can place all gear bags in our van.
As mentioned the big trailer fell through...........so please arrange drivers.......or bring a driver between two paddlers to cater for the dual locations.
If you shuttle your vehicles........be back at the start at 8.30 am.............or we'll be like old browns cows.........and be mucking around for half the morning.
We will start between 9 am and 9.15 am.
Remember load Sharlene's cellphone number (0274-581-005) into your cellphone contacts........."under E for emergency"
We will place everyone into three start groups and log those groups start times......and check everyone off as they reach Paekakariki.
There will be NO motorised support on the water.....you are required to wear a proper PFD with securing pull ties (any loose or ill fitting vests won't allowed) ..........leg leashes, fully charged cellphone in a waterproof case..........warm clothing (not the rubbish I saw some clowns shivering in at the Motorway Classic).
Be prepared we're not playing tiddly winks here........ we're dealing with open water and we are always being watched and scrutinised by the Coastguard and also the Police.
There will be a number of photos taken to publicise the future event.
EVERY PADDLER WHO TURNS UP MUST HAVE READ THE LAST TWO POSTS HERE........THIS IS YOUR SAFETY BRIEFING.
IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THIS THEN SAYONARA.......YOU WON'T BE PADDLING THIS COURSE.
The End.
