Regular gigs

We have a south easterly today which is providing a bit of extra punch to the swells in Evans Bay. I squeaked out on the water for an hour today, parking up at the bottom of Cobham Drive, as it's easier to get the ski on and off the van, when the winds busy the ski can take a few knocks if you're not parked in the best place on these types of days.

With the wind squirting across the bay at 40 kmh and gusting to 50 kmh it made life fairly interesting especially some areas where the wind tends to funnel through quicker than others. The Southerly tends to dish up a flatter wind swell most of the time, but the SE gives some nice runs especially down to the Shelly Bay side of Evans Bay where some nice 0.5 metre plus swells were enjoyed, upwind it's fairly moderate so you get the best of both worlds. Conditions today best described as "Lively."

This evening I'll be missing the company of a whole bunch of kayakers and surf
ski paddlers who turn up each week for the Twilight kayak series but work for me so I'll be back there in two weeks.
Due to the winds and "white caps" that the kayakers don't enjoy as much as the surf ski paddlers do, it will definitely be a start at Oriental Parade tonight. It'll be a lot flatter around there with just a.few quick flat wind gusts to contend with. On nights like today you'll see fewer kayakers out............hey go spoil yourselves buy a surf ski :-)
