Mana SUP Series Event TWO

Pretty fair conditions today's down winder run by Ocean Outfitters with a 30kmh gusting to 40 kmh Northerly. There were two courses, a cruiser course of approx 3km, that ran from the Mana bridge down to the Whitireia Polytechnic and a longer course of approx 6.5km which ran from the Plimmerton Boating Club and finishing at Whitireia as well.

Sharlene was well pleased with her effort on the short course as she doesn't get out that much and she found the course set for the cruiser class was well within her capabilities. I don't quite have the water legs to take on most of the testy offshore conditions, but mangaged to learn a bit more about the board handling required today and managed to paddle well on some of the stretches and average on
others........a swim at the 1/4 mark did help me settle down though :-)

The shuttling of vehicles pre event worked a real treat and thanks to Stu Hiddleston for his part there, along with a few others who also pitched in. I think around 20 paddlers turned out for today's event with a good selection of boards in all sorts of sizes and colours :-)

Thanks to Chris and Kate for running this event.

The next Mana SUP series event has a Battle of the Paddle (B.O.P.) format and it's on Sunday December 1.
