Today was day one of our two day Welly Paddlers training camp. Les Morris is over from Lake Wairarapa, Kayak Les (as I call him) has about 16 kayaks (in his garage and barn) which is a world record in these parts. Today we had a session out on the Porirua Harbour and Pauatahanui Estuaries followed by a nutritional session.
Just after we finished our session out at Onepoto we came across a group of Titahi Bay Ladies who were just heading out for one of their regular sessions images shown here.Tomorrow is another big day we have a session along the Motorway Classic course and one that involves some kayaking and portaging with our skis.
We are both getting into gear for the Motorway Classic on March 30 and the Portage Race at Picton on May 17..........and of course any paddling events in between.
One thing I'm looking at is a kayak/ski portage event in Wellington leading up to the Picton event, this may well happen 3 weeks before the Picton Event.
