Here's something worth thinking about. Fergs Kayaks are selling two Think Evo II elite surf skis at $4000 each, ($400 off) that's a steel.
These skis are 470 mm wide and 6.25 metres wide and weigh a fantastically light 12.5 kg (due to there honeycomb construction), you've probably seen a number of us in Wellington, Auckland, Levin, Nelson New Plymouth, Tauranga, Dunedin, Invercargill....to name a few places on these skis.
The Evo II sits in the intermediate category, but a number of quick paddlers are also getting great results on these skis not too mention everyone who owns one just loves them to bits. They are such a dynamic ski in the rough and also on flatter waters.
Don't sit around too long twiddling your fingers these skis are at this special price till April 3.........but I'm picking they'll be sold before
then.............snooze you loose as they say.
"The Motorway Classic".........Sunday March 30, 2014
One word describes this event and that's "Iconic" with a capital "I". This one's been running since the early 90's and maybe even as far back as 1989, it seems like it's been around since Adam was a Cowboy.
Back in the early days I recall
coming down to do the event when I was based in Hamilton, armed with my K1 and nose diving part of the way down to the Interislander in a good Northerly wind, I even won it that year just finishing ahead of John Cussins one of the locals who was also in a K1.
Welly Paddlers have been running this event for the last 5 or 6 years and before that we ran this course as part of our surf ski and waka ama series in the summer.
We now see a wide range of watercraft this event waka ama, multisport kayaks, stand up paddle boarders, adventure racing doubles, sea kayaks and surf skis.
The traditional course is 13 km and we have a 5 km and 2.5 km course for SUP's and a 5 km short course for waka ama, kayaks and surf skis.
This event covers everyone from recreational or fitness paddlers right through to any one who's keen to race
for the town clock.
"The Motorway Classic"....... "An event for everyone"
