Petone
First on the local scene is the Hikoikoi Waka Ama Clubs Matariki Event on Saturday.
The weather is looking good with a 20kmh Northerly in the morning changing to a NW around midday with similar wind speeds.
The Event has a 14km course from Petone around both Matiu and Makaro Islands and back with the 7km short course along the Petone Foreshore up the Hutt river around the road bridge and back.

Matariki is open to Waka Ama, and surf skis on the long course (and also suitable for sea kayaks) with the short course more suitable for novice waka ama SUP's and multisport kayaks if anyone is keen.
Mount Maunganui
A few of the SUP boys Brodie McGregor, Stu Hiddleston and Hans Wannemacher are heading up to Mt Maunganui to take part in the first event of East Coast Paddlers
Winter Series.

Hawkes Bay
Race 1 of the Canoe Racing New Zealand 10 km Series is on this Sunday on the Clive River (between Napier and Hastings) It's a 4 lap course and you'll see this a good number of K1's and multsiport kayaks at this event. To enter this event contact Craig Legarth 06 877 0924 or 027 944 4808.
