Event TWO @ Ngati Toa

Joern had his hands on the steering wheel today and used his artistic licence to place a course for all the waka ama, SUP's, kayaks and surf skis today, while Joern had a good run around the course upfront, Matt Archer took time out from his newborn baby at home to do the timing.

To view Joern's summary of the day events and results view the link http://www.hoetonga.co.nz/?p=3710

While rightly so, there were a number of people from the Porirua Burbs...........spare a thought for a few people that had some travel to get to the event Hiria Rolleston from East Coast Paddler http://www.eastcoastpaddler.co.nz/index and also Ben Greenleaf from Mt Maunganui Mike Nuku who again travelled down from Hawkes Bay, Eric Barber who came over from Masterton and Mike Tate from Levin so big thanks for taking the time to take on the extra travel to our Series.

On the water un-be-known to many there were a number of capsizes and damage to a few craft either being run into by others on the same wave or being caught out by swells forcing them into the rocks.

If you have feedback on any dramas at any event please contact the event Organiser of that event to let us know, often we don't see some of the issues that unfold so we all need the feedback to continually improve our events.

Thanks to Howie Clarke, Chas Quin, Pete Notman, Dave Annear and Turi Hodges for assisting a number of paddlers on the water your efforts were noted and appreciated by many of us.

There were a few go pros video cameras out there today taking footage.... here's what Dave McKnight has posted from his Think Uno Max surf ski ... click the below picture to view you tube video.

Event THREE will be run in Evans Bay on July 7......... due to the fact that Petone has two events (one being Matariki) and Porirua having three events.............it's all about creating fairness and balance and travelling to supporting events across the greater Wellington Area.

The Welly Paddlers Winter Series is proud to have
Fergs Kayaks as our Series Sponsor.
