Wild Winds regular Sunday gig

From November through to around April Dave McPhee from Wild Winds and his Family turn up every Sunday morning (weather permitting) from 9 am to 12 am either at Point Howard or Days Bay to give people the opportunity to demo Stand Up Paddle Boards.

Sharlene and myself finally made it out to join in with one of these sessions today.........why has it taken so long...........well I'm sort of in a job where I get two weekends off every eight weeks but that's my life as a shift worker swings and round a bouts.

Anyhow nice conditions out there this morning a very light Southerly up until 10.30 then it picked up to a 25 kmh southerly after that which was great for testing boards and skills.

Sharlene took out her Fanatic Ray and I took my Starboard K 15 (which is for sale by the way) I'm selling two boards to get one can't be too greedy aye.

Today I eventually had the chance to paddle Dave's Fanatic Falcon 12 ft 6 x 30 inches it was really nice to paddle if I'd been able to have a crack on Quentin's 14 ft x 30 inch to see how that worked in the swells today that would have topped my day off nicely............we'll save that for another day.

After around 2 and a half hours we finally left the beach, great day out, snarlers and orange juice for the punters some nice boards to try out a great day out.

With Ocean Outfitters "surf swap meet" yesterday and the "Battle of T Bay" on March 16 Wellington's Stand Up Paddle Boarders have plenty of activities to keep themselves busy.

Finally it's a good thing to support events and activities you meet more people and you also get the opportunity to try other peoples boards and paddles.................whether it's Naish, Fanatic or Starboard  doesn't matter, it's all about getting out on the water participating in events, it's great for the promotion of Stand Up Paddle boarding as an activity for all.
