The Motorway Race 6 weeks away

The iconic stretch of water along the motorway again plays host to this annual event thats been running for around 20 years now.
When I was based in Hawkes Bay in the 90's I came down a couple of times to participate in this event both times I paddled it in a K1 one of those trips I made it home first wahoo!

Of course times have changed we now run this event it's now open to waka ama, kayaks, surf skis and stand up paddle boards.

The event starts and finishes by the Wellington Waterski Club which is based inside the Korokoro gateway. The traditional main course is 13 km and runs down to the reclaimed land near the Interislander and back again. There is also a 6 km and 3 km course for SUP's. The event is best run with a Northerly but if its a messy Southerly we will have an alternate course along the Petone Foreshore Hutt River areas.

The focus of this event like many of ours is on participation and to take on the challenge..............of course some may like to go hell for leather and set a time for others to beat in the future.

We will have full details on this event loaded on the right hand side of this page by early next week.
