Waitangi Day our National Day.

Waitangi Day is our National day, a day off work for many and a Stat Holiday for those who work it,  today marks the Signing of the Treaty of Waitangi back in 1840 www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Waitangi

Early in m the morning I escaped from the Firehouse from my last shift for the week..........and straight out on the water.
A nice 30 kmh southerly greeted me and though it was a little cooler than usual, the Adrenalin clothing from Fergs Kayaks kept me nice and toasty.

I headed out from Freyberg Beach, right by our iconic Freyberg Pool then headed along Oriental Parade towards Evans Bay then up wind towards Wellington Airport and along the shoreline by Cobham Drive............then came the bit all surf ski paddlers love.......... a nice downwind of 3.5 km back to Point Jerningham.

A bit of a wind down paddle back along the Parade and I decided to head over to the Lagoon and check out to see how the setting up was going at the Wharewaka.
I stopped and had a quick chat with Chris Fox, one of the key Organisers for Waka Ama/Outrigger Canoe/Vaa in the Wellington Region................. as usual I caught her with her hands full.......... literally.

Back out of the lagoon then back to the "Golden Takaka Sands" of Freyberg Beach.............. water based excercise done for the day.............off home to relax enjoy our Countries National Day.

Sorry I forgot...........quick plug.................I was out on my Think Evo II today :-)..............tomorrow out on the Think Uno Max...........no point in having two surf skis if you don't use them equally!
