Took the Starboard 15 footer out for a paddle today to test run one of the stretches of water for this weekends Downwinder. I started from Hataitai Beach and headed upwind into a 25 kmh Northerly up to Snapper Point in Evans Bay.
It's the old story if you don't know the stretch of water and paddle "a like course" a few days before............how the hell do you know what the paddlers have to contend with on the day...........especially the SUP's.
I've been a bit rusty on the SUP the last two weeks and it's old old story you only get out of it............what you put into it..............and I must admit sometimes I get a bit balance challenged, mind you paddling the K15 in the Harbour can be like that, as it is designed for flatwater after all!
Talk about bloody hopeless I've just lost my 2nd leg leash in less than two months..................both around Hataitai Beach.
The first was my favourite a North Water leash with a red coily bit from Deep Cove Outdoors in Vancouver, today a Think Kayaks leg leash from Fergs Kayaks.
It's the same old story untying it as I get out of the water placing it in the board, getting distracted by sunbathers on the beach (just kidding Sharlene) then walking off...................
I'll go have another look tomorrow at low tide while on the SUP you get a great view of the bottom standing up 2 metres above the waterline!
If anyone finds any of my leashes there's a finders fee :-)
