Next week the regular Wellington kayak fix starts again........... on Tuesday Jan 8.
This block of the series is run by the Kupe Canoe Club and starts from their clubrooms in Evans Bay at 6.30 pm.
If it's a Northerly racing is tucked inside the sheltered Greta Point Area, on the less windier days the courses head around to the fountain and back, and in a southerly they may use either the cobham drive course or the starts may well be from Oriental Parade.
Starting Point details will be posted on the day on www.kupe.org.nz
The Annual Rangitikei River Kayak race in on January 13 and is hosted by Peter and Rach O'Sullivan. It's a 45km paddle on grade 1 - grade 2 water and is a good blow out for the Coast to Coast.
For full info on this event click here www.mangaweka.co.nz/rangitikei-river-race.html
The Welly Paddlers Downwinders start on January 13.
A series of three events in either the Plimmerton, Wellington City or Petone Waterways we'll again be making intelligent selections by basing our events to get the best conditions and the best waterway for that day..........we're also hoping that each venue will get a reasonable crack at some good paddling on those days..........but it will be up to the weather GODS.
These events will cater for stand up paddle board, surf ski and waka ama. The courses will be approx 6km - 7km we'll be looking to make each event achievable for those in the beginner to intermediate ranks of paddlers.
