Final Downwinder update

The forecast for tomorrow is:

Northerly 20 kmh - 25 kmh

Low Tide on the Kapiti Coast is at 6.59 am.......High Tide is 1.10 pm.

The start for all courses will be at Garden Road Raumati.

The 12 km course will finish at the marker pole opposite the Ocean Parade boat ramp, Pukerua Bay
The 24 km course will finish at the Welly Paddlers buoy at Ngati Toa Domain, Mana.

Shuttling of vehicles can either be done prior to the event or after.....any change of clothes or vehicle keys can be placed in the Welly Paddlers van.

Remember you can always ring in a Family member or mate to shuttle your vehicle.

After paddlers complete the 12 km course please head directly to Ngati Toa domain to greet the 24 km course paddlers in......also an option maybe for some of you to back track and pick up cars.....for paddlers on either course who have left their cars at Raumati.

The 12 km course will set off 15 mins before the 24 km course so we can keep track of the line of paddlers progressing down the Coastline.

There won't be a motorised boat on the course. Chester will act as a tail end Charlie to sweep the on a surf ski course....for these conditions that will be far more practical.

If any one feels a bit off colour or uncomfortable on on the water.....there will be exit points along the coast to pullout these will be:

Paekakariki surf life saving club
Fishermans Basket
Pukerua Bay
Plimmerton Boating Club

If you withdraw from any course you will need to contact Sharlene immediately on 0274 581 005

We will fire out spot prizes 15 mins after the last paddler finishes the 24 km course......we'll then head to Ruby's Cafe to replenish....lost fluids and body mass.

The course won't be technical.....and it will be one of the best opportunities to paddle along this stretch of Coastline. Remember it can be paddled close to the shoreline if that helps some paddlers confidence....and your own personal shore support crew will do the rest to add to your own enjoyable experience tomorrow.

We will be at Raumati at 7 am to start registrations...and we'll be monitoring the water conditions on the way through.

Remember any late changes and they will be posted here:

Also we do no want anyone entering the event if they haven't read this post here:
