All go for tomorrow.......why you ask.....look at the forecast?
Do not load your craft on vehicles tonight.......get up early and tie them on your raoofracks when the winds aren't as severe..........also tie your craft down at the front and back of your vehicle.....and with a fluoro flag on the back!
Well there is a window of weather from very early morning to midday where the wind phases off.
We have a North Westerly of approx 40 kmh gusting through to 60 kmh and history shows us, the Wellington Waterski Club through the Honiana Te Puni Reserve is the best place in Wellington to hold an event in these conditions.
We are having all the rain today and tomorrow the rain will have dissappeared and it will still be warm.........Weather warning tomorrow between 3 pm and midnight the winds are going to ramp up big time, so get your boats home quickly after the event...........Monday a Southerly is coming through and it's going to be miserably cold.
Here's the plan Stan.........we have to kick off at 9.45am...........no room for error... on the water go.
If you're late you can catch up.
If we hold events where everyone turns up like old browns cows month in month out...we'll never ever have any Professionalism or seriousness to grow in our Watersports events in Wellington to levels you all see up North and also overseas.......more on that come September.
Start right outside the Wellington Waterski Club head down the Motorway to a buoy 2 km away (500 m past the BP Station) come back to the start finish...........2 laps = 8 km........1 lap for juniors or anyone wanting to a short course = 4km
The buoy will be 5 to 10 metres from the shoreline.
To dodge the wind if you're heading from Wellington City use the Old Hutt Road from the Interislander both ways.........don't use the Motorway from the Terrace tunnel it's not worth the stress on your kayak or waka.
Rimutakas o.k getting to Wellington early............but dodgey after 12 noon and especially don't do the trip after 3pm.
Read the event flyer for conditions of entry
We'll be down at the Start from 8.30 to 8.45 to place the buoys out.
