We're winding down from "Think Month" the idea was just to break down the wait for the container to land in NZ. All the credit to Alan Ferguson of Fergs Kayaks for getting the skis here in mid August.......because most other containers of SUP's, skis and other kayaks into NZ always arrive quite late in the year.......maybe why the Think paddlers are so happy I guess.
I like to think our site has a broad appeal mainly because I really
appreciate and enjoy seeing people out on the water exercising or competing.
Over the coming weeks we will resume "normal transmission" with photos and articles of any paddling activities or events that come to our attention.
On the Harbour today there were a number of us out SUPing, amongst kayakers and rowers.
Today with the exceptional calm warm weekend weather and no kayaking events on I finally made it out on the
water with Sharlene, there is nothing like paddling and yakking together on the water.
You can also call this a "Board Meeting", use that during the week if you need to escape from work and catch up with your mates. It's also a term used by Chris Brown from Ocean Outfitters to catch up with his mates after work on Friday evenings in the warmer months.
This weekend some of our kayaking mates over in the Wairarapa are running the annual Ruamahanga River Kayak Race. The event is run by the Wairarapa Multisports Club, it has a 31 km
and an a also 19km option.
Two people can also team up and do either a 12km or a 19 km and give the solo paddlers a run for their money.
The event starts from Morrisons Bush, to the east of Featherston, and finishes at Pukio East Road just south of Martinborough........to view all the details from this awesome event http://www.wmsc.org.nz/
It doesn't matter if you are training or not for this one it's a good chance to do some bum on seat paddling and enjoy some great hospitality from the locals on the other side of the Rimutakas.
Closer to home the last event of the Welly Paddlers Winter Series will be run by the winter series founder Joern Scherzer. Joern will be running this event 1 week earlier than we originally advertised on September 8.
