Welly Paddlers events

From November 22 Welly Paddlers will be doing our bit this Season, for both SUP and Surf ski.

We are launching the  Welly Paddlers SUP & surf ski SETS.

SETS wraps 3 activites or levels of paddlers - social -exercise - training into one session. What this means is that everyone meets together at a starting point and they choose what group they'd like to paddle off with.

We'll have the best start point for the wind/sheltered conditions for that day and the start point will be on the stretch of shoreline anywhere between Fergs Kayaks and the Marina at the bottom of Cobham Drive, these will cover the windest conditions that we enounter on a daily basis.
We won't cancel any of the sessions as they are designed to show how easy it is to get out of the wind or run with the wind when you need to.

We'll have 3 SETS (sort of like tennis) and they will be Thursdays after work Nov 22, Dec 6 and Dec 20 and the meet time will be 5.30 pm. The start venue will be finalised 24 hours before on www.wellypaddlers.blogspot.co.nz

The logic for starting early is, the earlier you get out, the more warm sun you'll catch and you'll get away before it gets too cold, as it can get some evenings. So if you can get away from work early that day by taking a short lunch break or by making the time up earlier in the week this may work in all our favours.
The sessions will be from 30 - 45 mins.

In the New Year we will leave it open for someone else to organise something for SUP'ers we just want to kick something off to get things moving.

From January we will be running the Welly Paddlers Downwind Series which will consist of 3 downwind in 3 different locations, as only we can do, to show we're not just a one trick pony.

The Venues will be Downwind Evans Bay, Downwind Eastbourne - Petone and Downwind Whitireia - Plimmerton and they'll all be 7 km quickies just to wet everyone's appetites.

They will take place on Sundays Jan 13, Feb 3 and Feb 24 the venue will be confirmed 24 hours before the start on www.wellypaddlers.blogspot.co.nz  to get the best downwind conditions for the day.
It is envisaged that all 3 locations will be used to get paddlers to move around our waterways.

The Dowwind events will cater to Surf skis, SUP's and W1's

Leg Leashes and PFD's will be required at all these activties.
