Demos on the Waterfont

Hey big thanks to all you Wellington, Mana (and the lone representative from South Beach Raumati) SUP'ers for filling the Harbour full of SUP's yesterday.

The Wellington Waterfront surf ski & SUP demo was a good test run to where we need to head in regards to getting both Sports out there a bit more.
We focused on four areas of Publicity through some traditional pathways, it showed that while we reached a small section of the paddling community and public we need to work on some other critical areas to engage the public and tourists more.

At the end of the day it's about creating opportunities and to do this you've got to put yourself out there.

Big thanks go to everyone who staffed the demo area Ian Ferguson & Felipe Alonso Dos Santos, Fergs Kayaks Auckland, Nick Lane & Dave Annear, Fergs Kayaks Wellington  Sharlene & Chester Welly Paddlers also all the staff at Fergs Kayaks Wellington who ran the shop set up the BBQ and cleared the gear out after we'd finished there's a lot of work put in by everyone but we all enjoyed being out there mingling with everyone who turned out to check the equipment out.

Also thanks to Ian and Ali Ferguson for the long haul down (4.30 am start) bringing the extra demo skis down from Auckland and also Dave Annear at Fergs Wellington for organising all the local equipment, BBQ and cold beer at the end :-)

Last but not least thanks to Toby Acheson at Wellington City Council and also the people at Wellington Rowing Club for sharing their space.
