Matariki and SUP's

Welly Paddlers have been supporting Stand Up Paddle Boarders in our races for around 2 to 3 years now, but this year we are finally seeing SUP groups co-ordinating and encouraging their paddlers to get out and being seen at joint watersports events.

By joint watersports I mean Waka Ama, SUP's, Surf ski, Sea Kayaks Multisport Kayaks all out on the water at the same time.

The best way to grow your events is to support others events, and they will support yours...........well at some stage they will.

Big Up's to Howie Clarke he seems to be the glue that is seeing more SUP's out on the water at various events. To view all the SUP groups and the NZ SUP magazine site go to the web links on the left hand side of the main page

Matariki is Back!

Mark June 30, 2012 on your calendar for the Hikoikoi Matariki Challenge.
The event is based from the Petone shoreline of the Hikoikoi Waka Ama Club and there is a 10km and a 18/20 km options this year. Chris Fox is again at the reigns of this event so it should be a goody, also the Matariki race has some fantastic trophies to race for, you'll be amazed at the prized Taonga they had commissioned specifically for this event.

A wide range of craft will be catered for at this event they will range from all the Waka Ama craft right through to SUP's, Sea Kayaks, Surf skis and multisport kayaks. Turn up and  particpate to make this one of the biggest multi watercraft events in Wellington.

For all the info on this event go to http://www.hoetonga.co.nz/ or http://www.wakaama.co.nz/
