Huge thanks to Mana Coastguard crews lead by Mark Presling and Titahi Bay Yacht Club crews lead by John Goodman, thanks every one for the exceptional on water support that you all offered to the paddlers at this years Porirua Grand Traverse.
I am sure that all the paddlers gained the confidence to stay upright due to all the boat support that they visualised while paddling....in the very testing conditions.
During the paddle section of the event we had a North Westerly and then West North Westerly change at 50 kmh gusting to 75 kmh.
Thank you to the boat ramp team Sharlene Winiata, Lei Faletolu, Rob Futter, Howie Clarke, Neil O'Brien the two Porirua Grand Traverse volunteers and Graham Daniel who jumped in at the end......some slick work in this area that I'm sure impressed every paddler who you came in contact with
Thanks again everyone, your diligence, communication and willingness to help was very much appreciated.
Great Team work !
Photos:
- Always read the briefing board
- the sheltered part of the start line was close to Titahi Bay Road and provided the best starting point and best line to the first turn buoy.
- the tuff grass matting saves the day on some of our incredibly slippery boat ramps around the Region
