Sure was, out of the wind chill of the southerly that felt like it was coming from the South Pole we felt quite cosy to start and finish at our altered location.
Rather than a "go hell for leather event" where we spread out from each other like ants in the distance we went for a group paddle where everyone took turns at paddling ahead then dropping back to whoever was at the tail end at the time.
We ended up paddling up Evans Bay into the keen 30kmh to 50kmh southerly to Greta Point then surfed back to Point Jerningham, and did two circuits of this route. I think everyone had a ball (I certainly did). Thanks to Rueben Hill, Dave
McKnight, Colin Crampton, Iain Gillies, Nigel Parry and Chester Burt for keeping each other in good company for our last event.
As they say a very "Organic" format and I'm sure there will be a few texts or e-mails sent out to arrange something similar again after work or after a Twilight kayaking event......I'm sure we could squeeze another one of these in a few times a year.
The next event we are Organising is "The Motorway Classic" on Sunday March 30. (Entry flyer right hand side of this page)
Here's a few photos and we'll post a go pro video from Dave Mc Knight in the next day or so.
