Saturdays forecast we are expecting a fine sunny day with southerlies abating, they look fairly fresh at this
early stage.
If we do get a "fresh" southerly our likely venue will be Scorching Bay............though a lot can change in a few days (and Days Bay could still be viable) so look for the final announcement here on Friday at 9 am.
Had a nice paddle on Monday had a solid Northerly producing some of
the best surfing conditions I';ve seen in Evans Bay for a while. The best section to get really consistant and easy to link runs was from the seawall alongside Niwa to the bottom of Evans Bay. Going back upwind I tucked close the shoreline for some respite from the gusts then back downwind again. I could have done these loops for a hours!
It also proves a point you don't have to head into the Ocean to get a great ride on some swells it's all right at our back door here in Evans Bay.
You'll see Sharlene pictured here on her stand up paddle board on Sunday, she'll be keeping an eye on us all registering us, taking times and also some photos this Saturday.
This photo was taken on Sunday near the Seatoun wharf.
Good sized swells in the photos the ski where's Cobham Drive? also spent a few seconds with the nose submerged on some of the big sets of swells, a pity I didn't have Dave McKnights go pro camera on that day!
