Stand out in the crowd

The latest batch of Welly Paddlers tops has just arrived and they'll be finding there way to our Peps over the next day or so. This batch of tee shirts cost us $27 each and the hoodies $50 each. We aim to add style to your paddling wardrobe, and you get to choose any colour of or style of top you like and the same goes with the logos. There are around 30 items of clothing to choose from. We get our work done through Verboom (ex Wellington) now in Christchurch and the clothing comes from  the www.ascolour.co.nz range.

If you'd like any clothing just send me an e-mail with your selection and we'll get an order placed just after The Motorway Classic.........or before if there's enough interest.

After doing an event over in the Wairarapa a few weeks ago our good mate Paddy Rimene had his waka in Wairarapa Bush colours, it inspired me to get one of my new tee's done in the same colours..........(I was born in Pahiatua) a few years ago now! I still have a grey marle tee with a royal blue logo to arrive to make up my 10th item of Welly Paddlers clothing.......in total there's somewhere in the vacinity of 80 tees out there.

Here's another stand out.........I use to call this one "Harry's ski" he bought it second hand off another local paddler who's now based in Hong Kong. It's a Renegade surf life saving spec ski and was made by Chris Coppins in New Plymouth just over 15 years ago, he now lives in Australia. Anyhow this ski is an absolute work of art, it's carbon and weighs somewhere in the vacinty of 12 to 14kg and is still in mint condition after all this time......most of it spent on the storage racks :-)

Though I'd like to get on the water every day, in reality every second day is a welcome fix and I'm happy with that. I like to put in a good effort most days either running into the headwinds, surfing downwind sections and pushing over the waves ahead or riding the troughs in the swells picking the best angles and rides to get further ahead.

Yesterday was a great day for riding a mix of North Westerly swell in Evans Bay here's a pic running the swell channels across to Point Halswell, which is currently getting a paint job to protect it from the elements.

Best wishes to anyone taking up the challenge of this years Coast to Coast Multisport event. We may see a few aching bodies down at the Twilight series on Tuesday night?...........or maybe the week after details here: www.kupe.org.nz
Also the CRNZ Kayak Sprint Nationals are on the same weekend at Lake Tikitapu (Blue lake) in Rotorua. www.crnz.org.nz to view info on this one.
