Birds eye view and the Whareama River Race

Last big push painting the house today and it's all done bar a few touch up's so will be able to resume normal transmission on the water tomorrow wahoo!

Sharlene and I took walk tonight to check out the first night of Tuesday twilight kayaking for 2014. The photos were taken from the Maupuia
side of the Miramar Peninsula looking down into Evans Bay.

The Kupe Canoe Club run the twilight's from now until the end of daylight savings, you'll find updates on http://kupe.org.nz/summer-racing-2013/ and you'll see regular results posted every week.

The Whareama River Race is being run for the 3rd year on January 26. It's being run by one of the original Coast to Coast Legends Brian Sanders from Wellington/Wairarapa. The event has a 16 km (out and back) and a 9 km option and starts at 11 am to work with the tides and also helpful if your travelling the 2+ hours from Wellington.

How to get to the start head to Masterton then get onto the Masterton Castlepoint Road there are
two ways of getting to Whareama so take your pick, once you get there get onto Waimimi Road the boating club boat ramp where the start is, is approx 7 km from Whareama. Or just view the photo map......triangle denotes start/finish, yellow highlight denotes 16km out and back course

You can enter on the day or find more info here http://www.wmsc.org.nz/default.asp?PageID=20091

Apologies I was meaning to add this a few days ago. The Waka Ama Nationals are on all this week (Jan 13 to Jan 18) at Lake Karapiro, so best wishes to all Hoe Tonga Paddlers who have made the pilgrimage to this massive annual event. You can view daily updates on http://www.wakaama.co.nz/
