At event ONE Joern and Katie trialled a race tracking system through there phones so anyone can view their progress from the shore. At this weekends event anyone can register to use the same process and be part of this great piece of technolgy. To find out more check out the link above.
From my point of view the whole concept of the Winter Seies is about blending a range of paddlers around very similar courses, creating better on water paddler interaction is how I percieve it should work.......in this way we can appreciate the various sports and craft that turn up.
Each Event Organiser may, however show some creative licience to best cater for the range of craft using their local knowledge of the area.........so I would expect that we all should go with the flow and enjoy the challenge of the mornings paddling.
Don't forget all the entry money collected from each event goes into the Final Event spot prize pool and thanks to Fergs Kayaks, Wellington they top up the prize pool fund to spice it up.
At the last event in 2012 we had prizes totalling $2500 which was huge and I really appreciate all the work that Dave Annear at Fergs put into putting this package together for all you paddlyers.
So we'll see you on Sunday amongst a bigger base of paddlers in the North City Districts........and hopefully we will see Sharlene paddling as well !
