Hey big thanks to everyone who took a leap of faith that our Wellington weather is just so awesome to us when we take the option to use one of our Cities many sheltered bays to paddle in.
We actually had a 33 kmh Northerly that gusted through to 48 kmh at times so all credit to everyone who took up the challenge and embraced the conditions we had today........ by the way the wind speeds were (43 kmh gusting to 63 kmh at 4 pm)
A great starter for the series with 33 paddlers taking to the water and a fairly even spread of craft
overall... and did you see all those SUP paddlers out there!
June 16 see's Joern running the next event out at Ngatitoa Domain........expect to see about 70 paddlers on the water at that one. Remember to view the final venue and course information 24 hours before on www.hoetonga.co.nz and www.wellypaddlers.blogspot.co.nz
So please continue the trend of embracing whatever the Wellington weather throws at us on the day, rug up in warm gear, bring some more of your paddling mates along and get out on the water, see you in 3 weeks!
See photo slideshow on right hand side of page.
Finally hanks to Dave Annear at Fergs Kayaks www.fergkayaks.co.nz for again co sponsoring this years Series............ along with all the entry fees from the 6 events and some good work by Dave, we may well see $1500 to $2500 of spot prizes at the last event just like we had last Season.
Thanks again, Sharlene and Chester.
