The usual benign Autumn weather that Wellington gets during April and May greeted us for a nice board meeting this morning. You can't complain one little bit when you get a nice sunny day and a gentle 15 kmh Northerly on a Sunday morning, great for a leisurely paddle. Sharlene and I had a great little paddle around the marinas in Evans Bay, the Fanatic Boards recently decked out with Standing Room Only NZ logos on both boards to go with the one's from Wild Winds.
I'm a great believer in giving people a plug who support the paddlers out there........especially those who support what we are doing also.
It doesn't stop there there are heaps of people helping others out, this morning Matt Flannery was out on his Fenn double (by himself) taking a small group of Lyall Bay Surf Life Saving club paddlers out on some club skis (Matt loaned his Mako 6 out for todays Crazyman Multisport event).
During the winter period (which is getting closer all the time) there will be a few groups out training on their skis and kayaks that most of us wouldn't see or hear about.
Mana Kayak Racing Club have training sessions under the cover of darkness, check their website for details of their winter sessions. Matt Flannery says that there is a group of paddlers out on skis every Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 6.30 am from the Kupe Canoe Club.
Tomorrow I'll be in Sydney for 2 days at Think Kayaks Australia HQ, nothing like a change of scenery and a good opportunity to test the waters in Sydney........and I'll be the first Kiwi on the new Think Ion surf ski. Click on any photo to enlarge.
