Think surf skis dominate in Wellington

Tonights Tuesday Twlight series event in Wellington was dominated by Think surf skis with 50% of the field paddling the Think brand!

The afternoon started with Wellington's Think Ambassador out on the water an hour earlier with Perth based International paddler Sam Cuneen who is based in Wellington for 9 months. Sam is also a Think convert and I was lucky enough to be out on the water with him and witnessing some of his legendary moves running the Evans Bay swells. Sam is on a sabatical and is taking a casual approach to his paddling while here...............we also have a gentlemans agreement not to capture any images of him paddling while he is here.

Tonights twilight we had a 30 to 40 kmh North Westerly and because of this we had to paddle the chicken route closer to shore, which is aimed to make life easier for those who feel uneasy in their tippy kayaks.................while surf ski paddlers go with the flow and eye all the bigger ride able swells curling out further offshore on each lap.

I took a more of a social approach tonight and I made the most of paddling with Wellington's latest Think convert Iain Gillies. For the last few seasons Iain had been paddling a Fenn XT and this year he made the switch to a 2012 Think Evo II performance model. He's still getting handle on the ski after 3 weeks in Europe, but I'm sure later in the season you'll see him whipping the ski around the Evans Bay swells like a seasoned pro. Good on you Iain................and I'll give you some free coaching as well :-)
