There's always something going on.
Whether you're out paddling for fitness or social paddling with a mate, out training and racing for the town clock you're doing you're body a good service by keeping fit and healthy........that and a good healthy diet.
There's only a limited market for those that will reach the Olympics and even win a medal, many of us are well past that.
Everyone who paddles is important and while you're out on the water you may well be inspiring others to do the same.
Yesterday I had a big day out as I hadn't done too much last week due to doing some rehab (no not the Betty Ford Clinic)
Anyhow had a nice 60 minute paddle on the surf ski in a 30 kmh warm southerly @ 22 degrees...................which by the way is stinking hot weather in Wellington.
The ski went back on the transporter then off came the SUP for another 30 minutes worth just for kicks. After that big effort at a suitable pace I slept like a log last night.
Tonight I'll be out as many others will, for the regular Wellington fix of Tuesday Twilight Surf ski racing...................it's handicaped up to Christmas and my handicap will be a lack of fitness again, but I'm all good with that............... not being the pretencious type and everything.
Thursday again sees the Welly Paddlers weekly surf ski and SUP sets.................no surf skis to date apart from myself at the first one............... so I've started paddling SUP every week instead.............all good :-)
Had an e-mail from Nathan Faavae in Nelson................ they are having a surf ski race in just under 3 weeks, it's a 16km race and runs down the coastline. I've paddled down that coastline before at a quieter pace it's very managable................ unlike some of the coastline conditions we get in Wellington!
