Emma Comrie-Thomson and Phillip Russell from www.standingroomonlynz.co.nz (the SUP magazine) are in Wellington on Saturday and are going for a paddle around with local SUPer's.
Howie Clarke is liasing with Emma and Phillip on a good location to paddle.
At this stage, with all the magnificent wind we get they will be starting from the sheltered confines of Chaffers Marina by the steps leading to the small beach and water right by Te Papa also there is parking right there off Barnett Street. They are meeting at 10 am. Call or text Howie on 027 5299 248 to confirm final location.
On the surf ski side Ian Ferguson is down in Nelson on Saturday (Epic Surf ski Country) with Nathan Faavae who is the Regions surf ski Guru.
Ian will have a trailer load of Epic and Think surf skis for the locals to demo and has about 20 paddlers for a group Coaching session from what I understand.
On Sunday Ian will either stay in Nelson or pop over to Blenheim to see the kayaking and surf ski people over there.
I can't be two places at once unfortunately so I'll miss the SUP session as I'll be in Wanganui with my Think Kayaks surf ski fleet for a 13 km race that's been running up there for the last 4 years.
The event used to be called the 4 Bridges Race then the Whanganui River Challenge. Organised by Aaron Cox the race starts on Anzac Parade register between 12.30pm and 1 .30pm. Click on any of the photos to enlarge.
