An easy course to paddle tonight courtesy of a 17kmh Northerly and a course from the Kupe canoe Club and around the carter Fountain and back. The Forecast for tonight was very kind to all the paddlers who turned out tonight and the fact that it was a low tide and shallow water near the seawall on Oriental Parade meant that there was a lack of reflective wash than would occur at high tide that can make this section like one giant washing machine.

I think there were about 20 kayakers out on the water tonight and life is made much easier for many at the start with kayakers starting off in 2 to 3 waves depending on how many turn up. It makes life much easier especially on the short courses when the first buoy turn is less than 100 metres away and eases the big log jam.
Once the Coast to Coast people have had achance to recover and the Flatwater Sprint Nationals have finished we may get a few more people turning up, the more the merrier as they say.
