3 day break

I had a 3 day break off the water to go and check out one of the four Roger Waters Concerts at the Vector Arena in Auckland. Pretty good seats only 4 metres away from Mr Waters, best concerts seats yet! Finally made it back on the water on Saturday evening after work.
I had a quick 55 minute paddle from Shelley Bay in a light Southerly, I headed across the top of Evans Bay to Point Jerningham, along Oriental Parade to Freyberg beach, back around into Evans Bay again down to Soi Restaurant at Greta Point then slid down the southerly swells back to Shelley Bay.
After a break of a nights sleep I managed to sneak back out on the water again on Sunday for 1 hour 20 and launched off from the beach at Scorching Bay. Today a light North Easterly swell most of the way, so heading back upwind was no big deal and quick progress was made darting in and out of all the bays on todays journey. The Annual Round the Bays fun run/walk and 1/2 marathon was held today with funds raised going to the Mallaghan Institute. The 1/2 marathon turnaround was about 200 metres north of Scorching Bay so most of my paddle I was passing runners as I was heading North. At Point Jerningham I took a snap of some of the stragglers on the 7 km walk as well as another photo from Little Karaka Bay looking South towards the finish. Click on any of the photos to see enlarged versions.
