We had a fantastic turn out for Race 2, thanks to all 32 paddlers who ventured out on Sunday morning in the coolish southerly to paddle the 5.7 km from Petone out to Matiu Island and back.
We started a little late, which isn't a biggy as it is more important that you are all accommodating and supportive of one another to allow all crews to make it on the water ready and well equipped for each race.
We hope the shortened course version worked ok for everyone. It was short, sweet and easy to keep track of everyone in the quite coolish conditions.
We really appreciated that everyone stayed around at the finish, so we could quickly hand out the spot prizes.
It was fantastic having x4 OC6's crews out there racing, you guys are legends, as we know logistically it takes alot of time to get your boats organised to get them out on the water ... then you have to get all the crew there as well.
Apologises to the Te Maramatangi Crew, as I wasn't paying enough attention at the start and did not realise you only had a 5 person crew. Please just bring this up at the race briefing, as there were a couple of people who could have actually filled in the empty spot. As mentioned previously we can all help each other out at the last minute if need be.
