Porirua Twilight Paddling

We started "Porirua Twilight Paddling" in Jan 2019.

This is the Regions weekly on the water "Health and Wellbeing Session" so everyone can shake out all the stressful work energy for the week. I

The series also provides much needed social interaction between paddlers.

It starts at 6 pm every Wednesday......so have a chat to your Employer and ask them if you can leave work early (to beat the traffic) to Paddle.

Let them know that the end goal is to get some good energy flowing through your veins so you can continue to give your Employer and Clients 100 % for the rest of the week !

A "Good Employer" who appreciates you, is going to look after you.

The Series runs in two blocks - October 2 through to December 18 then January 8 through to March 18

Dolly Vardon Beach is the best location (we know of) in the Greater Wellington Area to hold a water sports event.
  • Bathed in late afternoon sun
  • hot outdoor shower and toilet facilities
  • plenty of parking
  • Easier traffic flows when you leave work early
  • plenty of scope for courses around the Porirua Harbour, Pauatahanui Estuary, Plimmerton foreshore and reef

Every week we'll have both a long course and a short course option (approx 6 km and 3 km)

The turning points we will be using are as follows.

Browns Bay - yellow mooring buoy 1.75 km
Grays Road Waterski Club - green buoy 1.5 km
Camborne Boatsheds - yellow buoy
Mana bridge buoy (start / finish) 1.75 km
Te Onepoto Bay - southern most mooring pole 1.5 km
Titahi Bay Boating Club - blue buoy 2.5 km
Plimmerton Boating Club - yellow 5 knot buoy 3.75 km - then around the Plimmerton inner reef  back to DVP 8 km.

Every week we'll have a spot prize or 3.
