Basically the Saturday is a team boat challenge over 200 metres and this day also includes plastic funtastic boat sprints also.

Sunday is the main event with the 13 km and also 4 km longer course options

Entries are now open for the 2015 Whanganui River Challenge!

The Whanganui River Challenge is back for another year and will run over two days, Saturday and Sunday October 31^st – 1^st November to include the new 'Cash 4 Clubs' concept where clubs will accumulate points for every entry and placing they get.  At the end of the weekend, the clubs with the most points wins the cash! 

The Whanganui River Challenge creates a spectacle of multiple types of craft decorating the Whanganui River, including kayaks (single and double), ocean skis, rowing doubles and quads, waka ama, surf skis, surf lifesaving canoes, SUP and Canadian canoes.  The events included consist of a 13km race that encompasses the four bridges within the Whanganui city boundaries, and a 4km race encircling two of the bridges.  In addition there are 200m team boat sprint races open to team boats of K4, OC6, Quad, Surf Canoe and Surf Boats; and a 200m ‘Plastic Funtastic’ fun race open to everyone, from kids and families to corporate teams battling it out for bragging rights.

Early bird entries close 9^th October, get in early before the standard fee kicks in.  Standard entries close 23^rd October.  Please note, no late entries will be taken after this date.  Avoid disappointment, commit early and start your training for what will be a premier River Event!
