3 days no posts...what's going on?

Chester you're getting slack.....! In my defence I've been gathering up some of the good oil from around the traps.

Today on the way to work caught these people out doing some sly training.... under the just not quite cover of darkness. Shane Ross aye.......in the double.....he and Jill ran the best Tuesday Twilight Kayaking events Wellington's ever had. When Shane ran them everyone turned up, and they turned up consistently both before and after Christmas.
Times have changed a big rush to support one series before Christmas......then in the New Year things dry up and Kupe don't get a look in as far as support goes from most.

Post New Year the Sprint Kayak Nationals, Coast to Coast, Waka Ama sprint Nationals and surf life saving nationals come closer and people start specialising........and then it's just the dreads of us who turn up in increasingly smaller numbers.

Surf ski bucks the trend because they have Long distance events all year round.........and more so in the summer when everyone's into sprint mode.......You'll see the surf skis dominate the scene even more this year because they are now allowed back in the Coast to Coast.
You don't have to learn have to roll , just climb back on them, no fear of becoming stuck in an enclosed cockpit. They are quicker to transition in and out of than a multisport kayak and your legs don't go numb because the seats fully support and take the load off the bones of your bum......you can actually be seated from your hamstrings through and are still able to rotate your torso etc for the power stroke. For safety they have plenty of storage spaces for gear and a quick release leg leash is an option to keep in contact with your ski, if that's part of the event safety rules.

Events coming up:

Sep 7 Cold Kiwi Finale 8km &4km
Sept 14 Twin Rivers Blenheim 21km
Sep 21 Cambridge to Hamilton River Race 21km & 11km
Sep 27 Foxton loop Race 18km and 8km
