2 days to go

Shelly Bay is looking good to be our venue for the race on Sunday the 5th of August starting at 10 am...........registration from 9 am.

Currently the forecast is for a light North Easterly breeze fine and partly cloudy.
Attached are some photos of the last race we held at this venue in March 2010. That day the course ran from Shelly Bay and around to Worser Bay and back, which was reasonably lumpy.

This year we have the SUP's consistantly turning up to races and they are now even outnumbering all the other craft such as W1's, surf skis and kayaks at some races.
The course we are likely to be using is one that heads North to the Chocolate Fish Cafe (500 metres from start) then heads down to Burnham Wharf then back to Shelly Bay it's approxiamately 4 km each lap. The SUP's do 1 lap and everyone else does 2 laps.

It's a mass start as the SUPs like to ride the wash like everyone else and running the course this way keeps everyone together making every craft part of the race making for better interaction. Remember it's best to start in grid formation then everyone can catch onto a wash through the start..........if it's good enough for motor racing it's good enough for Welly racing.
