At the races

Well our planned road trip to Twin Rivers in the weekend was foiled by our household coming down with a big bout of cold, flu and hayfever etc so Les Morris ended up travelling to the Twin Rivers with out us.
Les said the conditions were quite windy over there and it sounds like it was quite challenging weather wise over that whole weekend.
Les completed the 21.5 km course in 1 hr 51min 50 secs and placed 5th in the Vet mens, which was won by Andrew Martin who also recorded the fastest overall time of the day. http://www.marlboroughmultisports.wordpress.com/ for full results and photos.

This weekend Welly Paddlers has it's first event for the 2010/2011 Season. It's been held over in the Wairarapa and we've choosen to do this to support both the Waka Ama, Multisport and hopefully Surf Life saving scene over there.

My logic is you just can't expect everyone to travel to Wellington all the time we have to travel to other areas and help grow the sport there as well. Paddlers from the Wairarapa and Horowhenua Area have been great supporters of our events over the 2009/ 2010 Season so this is to say thanks............and we hope paddlers will travel to your area as well.

The NZ 10 km Kayak Champs is on this Saturday out at Onepoto www.manakayakracing.wordpress.com for all the info.

Glenn Muirhead (Masters) and Marianne Archer (Open Woman) are racing at the World Flatwater Marathon Champs in Banyoles Spain from September 23 - 26 we wish them well with their campaign over there. As results comes to hand you'll see them live here!

Other info to hand the "King of the Harbour" has shifted to April 1st & 2nd 2011.

Welly Paddlers 16 to 20km Harbour race which was scheduled for January 30, 2011 is being moved forward to March, we'll have a confirmed date for that by December 7.
