On May 29 & 30 the National Kayak Marathon Champs are on in Blenheim.
The event is being held on the Wairau River and based at the Rowing Club on Steam Wharf Road.
The singles race on the Saturday and the doubles race on the Sunday.
The race is run over a 6 km course with configurations of distances from 15km up to 30km with a portage on each lap...........except in the multisport and Surf ski classes where there are no portages.
There are various classes through the age catergories U17, U19 & U23 and also Masters 35-44, 45-54, 55+
Of course there are the Open Classes and also a novice class.
The Race briefings are at 9.30 am each day and the races start at 10 am.
Must have items: buoyancy bags in all boats, buoyancy vests for under 17's and spraydecks may be required if weather conditions are adverse.
Entries close May 17 no late entries will be taken.
