Race 11 "The Motorway Race"

Thank you all again for supporting the race so well today. As mentioned at the Spot prize giving you all have a stake in this Series as shareholders, it's all for you, the Paddlers.

One person I forgot to mention at the prize giving was ex pat Kiwi Leon Rossbotham, now living in Hong Kong, (he paddled Rob Taggarts OC 1 today, thanks to Rob for the last minute loan) Leon's Head Coach at the Hong Kong Island Paddle Club, he coaches (and paddles) Outrigger Canoes and is also part of the Think Team of World wide paddlers, paddling the Think Uno. While here, he's been paddling a Spare Fenn of mine, a temp ski while I wait for one of the Team Think, Uno's. Leons been busy while here punishing me on a few training sessions and also doing some Waka Ama Coaching as well.

Big effort today from the guys on Surf skis with 10 of them out on the water, it's been 7 years but we are finally getting more skis out there and they will really challenge the numbers of Outrigger Canoe in the near future. Also big thanks to the multisport paddlers for your support, I appreciate your participation as my start into this Sport came from Multisport.

Sharlene had her work cut out today with some really close racing even with extra help it was a struggle to capture all of you in the photo slideshow.

No one could keep up with the OC 6's today, especially the Worlds Crew just smoking up and down the Course and Aniuwaru were pretty handy out there as well.

All the regulars were out today and all giving it a good nudge along with a few new faces.

To everyone who travelled over from the Wairarapa and Levin, and also Gisborne thank you for your efforts in the travelling department, as mentioned Welly Paddlers will be hosting a race in the Wairarapa and Horowhenua in the coming 2010/2011 Season...........watch this space.

Hey big thanks to Raewyn for helping with the timekeeping, Taylor for being our ever reliable assistant and also to Graeme Finch, who now has roof racks back on his car and you may see him on the water at one of our Welly Paddlers races before the years out (-:

Final Thank you's to the Interislander for access through their land for the buoy drop off and retrieval and also to Ian at the MetService for his final update on todays forecast Southerly front................... he said around 12.30 for it's arrival, and it came through at 12.15!
