Race 7 Sunday Jan 10

2010 a New Year and a new decade so we're doing what others have done in recent times and we're re branding the Series we run for our paddlers in Wellington.
Welly is a nick name I've heard expats use over the Years, like other terms..... calling Westpac Stadium the Cake Tin...........and Hamilton the Tron
Paddling is what we all do, and those who support the Series either paddle some type of kayak, Surf ski, outrigger canoe (Waka Ama) or a stand up paddle board (SUP)
There are heaps of events and activities that you can get involved with in Wellington it's a great place............but we would really appreciate some more support so we can continue to keep this Series running and improving.

Race 7 Welly Paddlers Series
Sunday January 10Hataitai Beach, Evans Bay
registration from 9.15 am
race start 10 am
distance 8 km

Entry fee:
singles $5
doubles $8
6 person $12

All entry money goes into spot prizes.

The course will more than likely be 2 laps and will cover the reasonably sheltered areas of Evans Bay (by this we mean under about 70 kph in these sheltered areas) there will be waves though. If you don't know Wellington that well, the wind funnels through stretches in many areas and we get the strong winds and really good gusty patches so timing is everything as are good race locations and a plan b.

If you paddle one the following:

Surf ski
Outrigger canoe
Sea Kayak
multisport kayak
adventure racing double
stand up paddle board

Get your craft off the rack and on the water where it should be, not to mention after the Christmas New Year break there are a few bodies that need some exercise.Bouyancy vests are compulsory either worn or carried............. leg straps are optional on ocean racing surf skis, as is any other safety equipment you feel is necessary.
